Huddled up in my blankets past my bedtime, with only a dim light source, I opened the cover of the dusty anatomy atlas I had found earlier that day. On the bottom of the first page, a curious motto caught my eye: "Physicians are the only artists who can talk with their artwork".

As I read these words over and over, I began to envision the practice of medicine as a timeless art, incapable of fallibility…

I was born and raised in Romania and received my medical degree from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iasi Romania. I chose the field of Ob/Gyn because of my compassion towards the healthcare needs of women and my desire to empower them through education and prevention.

After I graduated from my residency in Romania, my family moved to the United States. I began my residency in Ob/Gyn at San Antonio in 2003. My four years here have been challenging and exhausting, full of joys and frustrations, highs and lows and, from March to November, very hot! I have truly enjoyed the opportunity to work with and learn from the supportive faculty and residents, whilst getting to know and care for this vibrant, predominantly Latina, patient population.

Until 2000, I held an academic position as faculty at UTHSCSA for three years and then I joined the OB/GYN practice group in Kyle.

Being raised in Europe, and now living in the United States, I have experienced the similarities and differences among many diverse cultural groups and geographical areas. This allowed me to relate to different types of people by understanding their ways and beliefs. Alongside the importance of caring for others, my experience living in America has taught me the meaning of true independence. Serving people requires emotional intelligence, understanding, compassion, and dedication; but it requires an independence of thought as well as willingness to learn in multiple dimensions, and an ability to solve in multiple dimensions.

At the beginning of my career I wrestled with many concerns and hardships. I conquered them all by working harder and developing confidence in my position. I maintain a balance in my life, pursuing passions in literature and art as well as recalling the importance of family and of a healthy sense of humor. My husband is the software architect responsible for this website. My son graduated from UCLA and is currently applying to Medical School.

Since those hours I spent poring over anatomy textbooks, I have found that medicine cannot be infallible, and its practice requires tireless efforts and dedication. Nevertheless, as I have learned to persevere through previous trials, I know I will not be daunted in my pursuit of this art. Seven Hills Women's Health was founded on the active pursuit of excellence and of life's finer things.
